Turkey is divided into 7 regions comprising of Marmara, Aegean, Black Sea, Central Anatolia, Mediterranean, East Anatolia and the Southeastern Anatolia Region. We start with the Marmara Region located in the East and with the commercial and touristy capital – Istanbul.

Istanbul
Istanbul- known as the ‘centre of the world’, it is the only city in the world which falls in two continents. Easily accessible from all parts of the world, from Mumbai you have direct flights to Turkey on Turkish Airlines and in 6 hours you reach Istanbul. Istanbul has preserved the legacy of its famous past having been the former capital of three empires, and looking into a bright future ahead. Here you will find a harmonious fusion of the past with the present, east with the west and of antiquity with the modern age. Istanbul charms its visitors with its variety of museums, churches, palaces, mosques and bazaar places as well as its own natural beauty.

Istanbul Highlights
With a beautiful location is the outstanding Topkapi Palace which houses the relics of Prophet Mohammed. A six minaret Imperial Sultanahmet Mosque also known as the Blue Mosque, has a sound & light programme which is both informative & entertaining during summer.

Hippodrome is the scene of ancient chariot racing, with its monuments: the Obelisk of Theodosius, the bronze Suprentine Column and the Column of Constaine. A visit to Istanbul is incomplete without an excursion on the Bosphorus (- a strait which separates Asia from Europe -) viewing Palaces on its banks along the way and the Bosphorus suspension bridge which connects Asia to Europe.

The Basilica of Hagia Sophia with its immense dome and its majestic serenity is one of finest buildings of all time. The Museum of Turkish and Islamic Art is housed in Ibrahim Pasa’s private residence, holds a superb collection of cceramics, metalwork, miniatures, calligraphy, textiles, woodwork as well as some of the oldest carpets of the world.

The Marmara region
Towards the north east corner of Turkey lies the Marmara region, a passage way from Europe to Asia and vice versa.

Gallipoli
The Gallipoli Peninsula Historical National Park is built in memory of the soldiers who lost their lives in the Historic Battle of Canakkale during World War I - a place where one can sense the patriotism of the Turkish nation. The Memorials to the soldiers are set in beautiful natural surroundings.

Canakkale
At the entrance of the Canakkale Strait, is this busy harbour city. The well equipped Marina boasts of a whole lot of colourful yachts passing through the strait to dock here.

Troy
Truva or Troy as it is known, where a symbolic wooden Trojan horse commemorates the legendary war of Troy, which Homer has immortalized in his Iliad. Explore the nine separate periods of settlement, including ruins of city walls, house foundations, a temple and a theatre.

The Aegean region
Turkey’s most impressive beaches are in this region, spread between rocky beaches and Turkish waters a great place for underwater divers. In this region besides the coastline there is deep rooted history and mythology.

Kusadasi
An attractive seaside resort town, Kusadasi is one of the most attractive city on the Aegean. A favourite place for yacht men is the Marina here with its colourful yachts and a great shopping area on the river front. A connecting point for visiting many of Turkey’s other tourist centres, Kusadasi is considered a perfect holiday destination. It has interesting sightseeing attractions along with historical remains.

Ephesus
Known as Turkey’s outdoor museum. The Temple of Artemis - one of the seven wonders of the ancient world was situated here. Officially sanctioned by the Vatican , the House of The Blessed Virgin Mary is in Ephesus. Here Mother Mary had spent the last years of her life after St. John had brought her here after the death of Christ

Pamukkale
Pamukkale is one of Turkey’s unique cities with its historical and natural sites. Pamukkale or in Turkish ‘Cotton Castle’ called so due to the natural formations here due to the high level of mineral deposits.

Pamukkale has a large number of Hot Springs containing mineral, mainly chalk which has created this amazing natural wonder. The marvelous landscape of Pamukkale has been created gradually leaving a cotton-like image hence its name meaning “Cotton Castle”. Pamukkale is famed for its therapeutic mineral waters.

Art, Culture & Entertainment
Istanbul is the sight for The International Arts and Cultural Festivals and The International Film Festival Istanbul has light entertainment throughout the year, The night clubs have Turkish singers and belly dancers for entertaining its visitors. Here you will find discos, cabaret and jazz clubs to keep yourself entertained.

Shopping
The Kapah Carsi or Covered Bazaar is the original Mall of Istanbul, a place to suit every budget and taste where you can buy an endless list of things such as Charming souvenirs and gifts, antiques, carpets, brilliant hand painted ceramics, copperware, brassware, meerschaum pipes, Gold jewellery leather and suede goods.

You can watch craftsmen at work and buy their ware at the Istanbul Sanatlari Carsisi (Bazaar of Istanbul Arts). The Atakoy Galleria Mall and the Akmerkez Mall are well known for Istanbul’s elegant shopping. Like most other tourist centres, Istanbul too has Flea markets for instance the Sahaflar Carsisi and Cinaralti.

Eastern Turkey
In the Eastern Region of Turkey one comes across diverse terrain, the red ochre plateau of Erzurum; the forests, waterfalls and green pastures of Kars and Agri; the permanent snow cap on biblical Mount Agri; and the immense Lake Van with its deep blue waters. Due to this regions harsh climate and the high mountains population in this region is sparse. Fertile basins, like the Mus Valley and various rivers, lie at the foot of the mountain ranges. In this region the Pontus and the Taurus Mountains converge.

Black Sea region
The Black sea region is also known as the Northern Anatolia Region. In this region you find rivers cascading through gorges of the coastal ranges, it has a steep and rocky coast line. The concentration of cities is more on the coast line as the access to the inland from the coastal area is limited to a few narrow valleys. Due to its highly fertile delta cultivation is concentrated in this region. All available land, including mountain slopes wherever possible, is put to use for cultivation. Commercial farming is carried out in this region, making the region rich in its flora and fauna.

Southeast Anatolia region
The Southeast Anatolia Region is Turkey's smallest region, but not is respect to its natural beauty and historical importance. To the south and southeast of the Taurus Mountains are Valleys and Plateaus, the eastern parts are plains while the central parts are mountainous. This is the only region of Turkey which produces some oil. Visitors wanting to escape the ‘Sun & Surf’ could explore the uniquely different life style of the Southeast Anatolia region of Turkey.
