The first week of March was a very anxious moment for me as I was scheduled to leave on 8th March for my first ever trip to the African continent as well as my first ever trip to the Southern Hemisphere. I was looking forward to this trip very eagerly and I had gone thru' the itinerary time and again to visualize the exotic places I would visit.

After my first two exciting days in Johannesburg, I was looking forward to Day 3 of my FUNDI trip as I was scheduled to visit some of the most exciting places that one should see when in Johannesburg.

I was in last phase of my stay in the Gauteng province and on the agenda was to visit the Apartheid Museum and Soweto where we would lunch at the Nambitha Restaurant.

At Hluhluwe it was pouring and we arrived at the Hill Top Camp and were supposed to check in and immediately leave for a game drive. Most of the Fundis (experts) were exhausted and didn't want to venture out in pouring rain as we all wondered whether there would be any possibility to see any game.

In the last issue I mentioned about the Mountain Lodge at Phinda where we were residing. Besides the Mountain Lodge, there is the Forest Lodge, the Vlei Lodge and the Rock Lodge and we were fortunate enough to go around and see some of these premier lodges.

At around 1345 hours we arrived at Cape town Airport and were greeted by Zaino from Mathews Tours who was going to take care of our stay in the Western Cape for the remainder of our trip.

After a lovely evening at the Table Mountain, we enjoyed some fine African cuisine that night at The Africa Café which was located quite close to the Holiday Inn Strand.

We had a very long day having visited the Robben Island and the V&A waterfront in the morning, the Signal Hill along with the Company Gardens in the afternoon and we were scheduled to go for dinner back to the V&A waterfront.

It was our penultimate day in the Western Cape and we left our hotel for a full day tour of the Winelands. Many of us were looking forward to yet another interesting excursion of the Western Cape region.

After having tasted some of the finest South African wines, the last morning in Capetown we headed for the District Six Museum. For those who have been following the Travel Diary which is being published since May 2004 in Opportunities Today, I had mentioned about the District Six Museum whilst featuring Noor Ebrahim - one of the Founders of the Museum.
