Masai Mara Reserve

MASAI MARA - KICHWA TEMBO CAMP
Found on the north-west border of the Masai Mara Reserve. The Camps are located at the foot of the Oloololo Escarpment, on the fringe of a Riverine Forest, overlooking the plains of the Masai Mara National Park. The camps fall directly in the path of the famous annual Great Migration of the Wildebeest and Zebra from the Serengati National Park in Tanzania to the Masai Mara in Kenya.

The Masai Mara is predominantly a vast open savanna but there are actually seven distinct habitats including permanent marshes, Riverine Gallery Forest, and Dense Shrubland. Lying to the north of, and forming part of the Great Mara-Serengeti Ecosystem, abundant with Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Black Rhino, Elephant, Giraffe, Hippo and Cape Buffalo as well as vast herds of Wildebeest, Kongoni, Zebra and Topi.The Mara is also home to six species of primates, and over 400 species of bird. En route to Masai Mara you will pass via many small-scale farms and then down the steep eastern escarpment of the Great Rift Valley.

Day 1
Arrival into Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, met by Compact Travel’s staff and Travel Representative with Flower Garlands in the typical traditional African way.

Your luggage will then be loaded onto your safari minivan and you will be driven, by our professional safari driver/guides to Intercontinental Hotel - www.interconti.com for check in.

1900 hrs - We will pick you up later this evening and transfer you to The Carnivore Restaurant /Asha Bhatia Restaurant for dinner.

After dinner, we will transfer you back to the Hotel Intercontinental, Nairobi for overnight on bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2
0700hrs - Buffet breakfast at the hotel.
0800hrs - Departure and drive to Masai Mara, Kenya's finest and best-known game reserve.

This drive takes you through the floor of the Great Rift Valley and past the escarpment where your driver guide will stop at strategic viewpoint for photography.

1230hrs - Buffet lunch at Mara Sopa lodge.
1600hrs - Afternoon game viewing drive in the Reserve.
1830hrs - Return to the lodge

Day 3
0630hrs - Early morning game viewing drive in the rolling hills, woodlands and rivers that make up the Mara in search of more game. The animals are more active at this time of the day.

0830hrs - Return to the lodge for breakfast.
Morning at leisure to relax by the pool.
1230hrs - Buffet lunch at the lodge.
1600hrs - Leave for yet another game drive in the Mara
1830hrs - Return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4
0700hrs - Breakfast at the lodge.
0800hrs - Depart and drive to Nairobi.
1230hrs - Upon arrival into Nairobi, proceed to Asha Bhatia Restaurant for lunch. This restaurant specializes in Indian vegetarian menu. After lunch transfer to the airport for your international departure flight.

MARA SAROVA CAMP
A luxury tented camp opened in 1984. The camp has 75 tents and is set amidst lush extensive gardens. Hot Air Balloon Safaris from the camp are followed by Champagne Breakfast in the wilderness. Day 01
On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Dinner this evening is at the Carnivore Restaurant/ Asha Bhatia Restaurant famous for its succulent steaks and barbecue dishes and an excellent complement to a holiday in Kenya especially as a welcome meal.

Lunch in the Camp.

Samburu National Park

SAMBURU NATIONAL PARK
Samburu National Park is located 325 kms north of Nairobi in the hot and arid northern region of Kenya and is 165 sq. km in extent. Altitude: 800-1200 meters. Among these are Grevy's Zebra, the Reticulated Giraffe and the Beisa Oryx, all of which are only found north of the Equator.

Vegetation consists of narrow Riverine Woodland of Doum Palm. Otherwise Acacia Woodland with Bushland, Grassland, and Scrubland. Game in the reserve includes Elephant, Cheetah, Reticulated Giraffe, Oryx, Vervet Monkey, Zebra, and Crocodile.

SAROVA SHABA LODGE
Located on high above the Samburu River in the Shaba Game Reserve, this lodge cleverly incorporates the beautiful natural springs as one of its special features, and also offers the perfect base from which to explore the Shaba Reserve, as well as its sister reserve-Buffalo Springs to the west.

On arrival in the Samburu Airstrip, you will be met by your lodge Drive Guide. Enjoy game viewing en route to the Sarova Shaba Lodge.

Another day in Shaba with extensive game viewing.
